Maria MillsSCA Group is delighted to have reached the final four in the Guardian Social Enterprise Awards 2011.

SCA, which offers not-for-profit health and social care services across the south, entered a three-minute film for the awards.

It shows Chief Executive Maria Mills talking about the impact SCA’s services have on customers and about SCA’s plans for the future.

The film will be shown at the Guardian Social Enterprise conference in London on Tuesday November 8th.

The four finalists will be interviewed at the conference and then the final winner will be chosen on the day by popular vote.

The film can be seen on the home page of SCA’s website at www.scagroup.co.uk or lower down on this page.

The aim of the Guardian Social Enterprise Awards is to identify the UK’s most promising social enterprises that have the potential to make a big impact.

“This is absolutely fantastic news,” said Maria. “The awards help to raise the profile of social enterprises, the contribution we make to our communities and our potential to change the service landscape.

“Getting to the final four is a real testament to the creativity, hard work and commitment of all our staff and the dynamism of SCA’s founder, Executive President Brian Strevens from whom I took over the reins 15 months ago.

“Throughout our 20-year history we have developed services shaped by people in our local community and we aim for our services to be the best out there.

For example our dentistry services to 70 000 local people provide high quality dentistry that makes a deeper impact, and achieves higher customer satisfaction levels than our competitors.

We aim to continue to improve and significantly extend our services. It’s an honour for everyone at SCA to be recognised in this way.”

Southampton-based SCA is one of the longest-running social enterprises in the country. It celebrates its 20th anniversary this year.

SCA provides day care, home care, NHS dentistry, advocacy, community transport, social enterprise consultancy and health and social care training in Hampshire and Dorset.

It also runs the Fenwick2 Health and Wellbeing Centre in Lyndhurst, Wessex Care Decisions advice service and the Centre for Social Franchising.
